I have the following twitter account. @santacruztweets I want to create a community posting bot. When someone sends a direct message to @santacruztweets the message will be reposted by santacruztweets.

I guess the main difference between this and the current DM bot is that this would allow for all people you are following to post to the account.

So you want a checkbox to say "Allow anyone to retweet"?

No just anyone but anyone that I am following. In order to prevent spam.

I think in this case we'd have to track the user's followers right Josh?

Here is a script that sparked this idea. They use the script at the bottom of this post to retweet all @ messages.

They are using it on the account @lotd

If it uses DM instead then a pretty cool semi-moderated posting community can be created

Adam: we don't have to track the user's followers, Direct Messages inherently assume you are following them.

Rob: that's actually the model that @vctips (a descendant of @lotd) uses (I put both of them together back in the dark ages). If you've already got a bot that retweets based on @replies it's a straightforward change to make it repost for d messages instead.

So what's the deal? I tried a test about 20 minutes ago. No posts to my bot. If this doesn't work just now, could you post that?

    Shoq,

The bots are working fine and have been working fine for well over a week without slow down. What the original post is asking for hasn't been implemented (an allow anyone to DM-tweet).

We are still considering the original posters message/feature suggestion.

I would really like this feature (tweet all DM's)

    Hi Everyone,

We're in the process of cleaning up old tickets. We're still considering "allow anyone to DM-tweet" as one of the additional features to add. I will now be closing the ticket. Please open a new ticket should you have any other suggestion.

We appreciate all your suggestions. Thanks!

    Paolo
