Auto Retweet

I'm using the account "1310kfkanews" for updating listeners to our radio station on our headlines, etc. Among the accounts I follow is one for CBS Radio News and I would like to automatically retweet the messages they send, though they're not direct messages to me. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Not right at the moment, but we are considering a "retweet bot".

There has been several discussions of the best way to handle this.

What would a sample message look like from the CBS Radio News account? What would you want it to look like when you automatically retweet it?

    Josh,

Thanks for the response, and pardon my delay in getting back to you today. Normally, CBS' messages highlight what's coming on their top of the hour newscast:

"CBSRadioNews Coming up at 10ET, Obama defends his role in removing GM's chief"

I'd like to retweet those messages, because our radio station carries those newscasts--good promotion. It could look the same as it comes through, to differentiate it from being just from our 1310kfkanews account.

I've tried using TwitterFeed's rss posting method, but because the time varies that CBS feeds the messages, even using a 30 minute check time doesn't always catch the tweet for passing on.

Thanks for getting back to us Troy. As I mentioned before, there have been some discussions around how to handle it, we will look into prelim support for this option shortly.

I'd want a retweet bot with AND without the option of citing the original source of the tweet.

So essentially when we implement this, you are suggesting that we add an option to or to not include a @ citing the source.

    Hi,

Have you seen the LuvORHate twitter account. This account retweets any message from the public tweets that include the words "love" or "hate". Do you all have a bot like that?. Maybe with more target words then just two?

    Margret,

No we don't, but that sounds interesting. Can you re-post this as a new suggestion so it can stand on it's own, and can you also elaborate on another use case other than the LuvORHate example? I'm curious to hear more of what you are thinking.

I just wanted to echo Troy's request, which looks like one which has been made already a few times in other similar threads...

It would be extremely useful to be able to, in effect, set up a twitter account which automatically retweets tweets from a managable list of otherwise independent 'contributor' accounts, without the step of direct messaging.

I would be very interested in a version that cites the source, though ideally not necessarily with the typcial 'RT' and/or '@Username' -- I personally would prefer a format more like 'Username:' (the username followed by a colon). This, to me, allows a bit of a better image for the aggregator account, particularly for accounts which might solely act as aggregators. It identifies the aggregator less as simply a retweeter/aggregator and moreso as a collective voice for the individual contributors/accounts. Perhaps this alternate format as an option?

Much thanks to you guys for working on this...

We have a ticket open on this and will be looking into it shortly.

    Thx for the updates guys.

I created a Yahoo pipe that I push into my Twitter stream via TweetBots. Check it out and see if this solves your need.

I'ml looking for something similar to what Josh describes that would auto retweet pre-defined tweeters and can be programmed to start and end. For example in the overnight hours to retweet but not daytime hours. I'd like a panel like a tweetdeck where I can see the settings for all the people I have set on auto-retweet.

Except that we're talking about auto-RT, without involving any RSS crawl.
With what I'm wanting to RT, its time-sensitive, so waiting on an RSS crawl
doesn't take care of my needs...

I've looked into EchoTweet, it doesn't appear to do what I'm looking for. I want to auto-retweet 12-15 others with their username somehow indicated. It'd be really great for them to have the option to tweet and put in a short hashtag (like #in puts your tweet on LinkedIn) in order for a tweet NOT to get auto-retweeted. Twaitter says they're working on this.
